Clinical Studies on Myocardial Infarction

Abstract
Sixty-five cases of acute myocardial infarction were studied and following results were obtained.
1. Male and female ratio was 5.5:1. The age of most patients was sixth (52.0%) and fifth decade (26.0%). Incidence of myocardial infarction in 60 years old or less was 36.7%.
2. Underlying diseases were hypertension (42%), angina pectoris (21%), diabetes mellitus (7%) and obesity (5. 2%).
3. Inducing causes were physical exertion (44.1%), heavy meal (6.9%), mental stress (6.9%) and rest (27.9%).
4. Symptoms were substernal pain (82.6%) dyspnea (50.5%), epigastric pain (9.7%) and radiating chest pain (13.4%).
5. The ratio between the anterior and posterior wall infarction was 2.1:1.
6. There were leukocytosis in 58.7%, increased SGOT in 79.4%, increased SGPT in 45.0%, increased LDH in 85.7% and increased cholesterol in 53.0%.
7. Mortality during the first attack was 30.7% and causes of death were shock (40.0%), heart failure (25.0%) and arrhythmia (20.0%).
